Dismantle Set To Release Debut Album

on .

Two weeks left till the release of Dismantles debut album, More Rock and Roll!

This album is going to blow all you Detroit Rock fans away! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be an instrumental part of the conception of this awesome group of tracks, written and performed by an awsome group of guys. You need to come out to the show and meet these guys to know what I'm talking about.

We are hearing undercurrents already of genre crossover explosions, a little bit for the alternative rock fans, a little bit for the hard rock fans, the good ole' rock and roll fans, and even a nod to those who enjoy both southern flares, of southern rock and country, Yes Country! You'll see what I mean! We didn't want to leave any fans behind! I hope you got a taste of our previews, as soon as the album is rolling, we will already be tracking the next. We will keep you all up to date as best we can.

Thanks again to all those involved with this project. You know who you are! The Bands, Fans, Techs, Family, Business Associates, Investors. We wouldn't be here without any single one of you. See you all at the Dawghouse, Sept 21st, 2007.

Thanks again,
Paul

Derek St Holmes To Join Nugent @ DTE Sept 1st.

on .

Ted Nugent and Derek St. Holmes circa 1976In a rare appearance, former lead singer for Ted Nugent, homegrown boy (Riverview, MI) Derek St. Holmes will be joining Ted Nugent this Saturday for The Nuge's "Homecoming" show. The lead vocalist on many of Nugent's early hits such as "Hey Baby", "Just What The Doctor Ordered", & "Strangle Hold", St. Holmes will be rockin with The Nuge once again as they storm the DTE Energy Theater for Nugent's final show of his summer tour. Nugent's new CD, "Love Grenade" drops 3 days later on Sept 4th. which includes a new version of his "Amboy Dukes" classic, "Journey To The Center Of Your Mind". Expect Nugent to hit upon his glory hits of years past, while throwing in 4-5 of these new songs including "Love Grenade", "Bridge Over Troubled Daughters", and "Girl Scout Cookies". After this show, Nugent has said he will entrap himself in his Fall Hunting Ritual, bypassing any continued support for the new album until late 2007 or early 2008. The Local Rock Band, Paper Street Saints, will be opening the show for Nugent as they where hand selected by The Nuge himself, after finishing in the top 3 of a recent Wrif Radio contest. Rock On!

Detour Magazine Launch Party

on .

The new online magazine called Detour will be throwing a HUGE 3 day Party to commemorate the online launch of their new mag. This party will feature 3 full days of music Sept 20-22, 2007 @ 3 locations, including the Magic Stick, The Garden Bowl, and the Contemporary Art Institute Of Detroit (C.A.I.D). Not really sure as to what these guys cover, (Local Music Is Not The Focus) although they claim to be on top of the “Local Pop Culture”. It does appear that this is just another glossy attempt to call themselves the “Leaders” in one way or another. One thing is for certain, we here at Dr2 claim to be nothing more than Michigan Made Music Lovers, who attend a lot of shows, have known or have met you who are making or showcasing this music, and we in turn like to let everyone know what is or has gone down. So, if you are like us, you love a good party, especially if it includes local music, head on over here http://www.detour-mag.com/launch/schedule.html to see the line up for this great big celebration!

Dalley In The Alley Sept. 8th, 2007

on .

DALLEY IN THE ALLEY 2007

What began as an inner city art fair in 1977 evolved into a performing arts festival when it was moved to its present alley and renamed in 1982 to “DALLY IN THE ALLEY”, the title of a medieval drinking song. Great musical talent, good beer and a remarkable string of fabulous September weather has indelibly marked the alley at Second and Forest in Detroit ’s Cass Corridor as the site of the best music festival in the Midwest .

Gary Grimshaw designed the first Dally poster in 1982, featuring Brian Taylor’s dancing cats, replicas of which grace a garage wall at Third and Forest . Gary also created the 1986 and 1997 posters. Other recent Dally poster artists include Steven Goodfellow (1996), Glen Barr (1998), Kevin Stanislowski (1999), Mary Iverson (2000), Jerome Ferretti (2001), and Shades (2002). The 2005 Dally Poster was designed by Mark Heggie.

The Dally expanded beyond its original alley to include Forest Avenue in 1997 and added the Urban Electronica stage on Second Avenue in 1999. The skateboard ramps of 1999 were subsequently banned by the police department, but new and weird events are added every year.

Both the quality and quantity of the food and art vendors has significantly improved since our 1977 beginnings, and more than 100 participants sell food, beer and things one can only find in the Cass Corridor.
