No More Drew & Mike!

No More Drew & Mike!

After reigning supreme in the Detroit radio market for 16 years, it appears that the highly rated Drew & Mike Show heard weekdays from 6-10 am on 101.1 Wrif is done. After 8 months of “where’s Drew?”, the much suspected rumors have come true. Using the excuse of home caring of his cancer stricken fiancée, it will soon be announced that indeed Drew Lane is leaving the station that propelled his career, for “Greener” pastures as a syndicated National Show Host and not for the reasons he has been putting forth since last appearing on the show last September 17th. In true Non-native Detroiter fashion, Drew apparently will shun the very people who have overwhelmingly supported the quirky morning show since he arrived from the smaller market town of Phoenix, the Detroit Metropolitan area is still one of the largest, where the Drew & Zip show had mixed reviews. Upon arriving in Detroit in 1991 & the subsequent departure of then co-host Peter Zipfel 2 yrs later, the show was renamed the Drew & Mike Show after the addition of Mike Clarke which then saw an explosion of popularity that has been un-rivaled in any major market in the United States. It’ll be interesting to see how this all unfolds as since last fall, Wrif ratings share have gone into a free fall and we hope they are able to right the ship before it’s too late! Anyways, Dr2 will wish him luck in whatever it is he thinks he doing, and put him in our not to favorite ex-Detroiter list…….right next to one Jack White.  Argghhh! We love Detroit AND the music too!
