WRIF Presents Rock Hitmakers Sponge at The Ritz on March 29


Platinum hit-makers Sponge headline The Ritz (24300 Hoover Rd., Warren, MI) on Saturday, March 29, 2008.  The show is part of Sponge's national tour in support of their latest CD Galore Galore (Bellum Records). Doors are at 6 p.m.; Tickets are $15, and ages 18 and over are welcome.  Regional rockers Ballz Deluxe, Sliver, Aisle 5, Konniption Fit, and the Mac Arthur Street Mafia open the show, which is presented by WRIF.

Hailing from Detroit, Sponge gained international notoriety with their debut album "Rotting Pinata."  Hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" fueled massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV. After "Rotting Pinata" went Gold, the band toured internationally, sharing the stage with Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and more recently, Iggy Pop and Nickelback.  Sponge's follow up CD, the critically lauded Wax Ecstatic, includes the hit songs "Wax Ecstatic" and "Have You Seen Mary?

Now touring in support of their newest CD Galore Galore, Sponge continues to stand out as rock's most charismatic live acts.  Sponge front man Vinnie Dombroski's powerful voice, heart-on-his- sleeve lyrics and full throttle stage presence captivates any audience he steps in front of.

Galore Galore features 10 blistering rock and roll tracks, and finds Sponge successfully treading new ground with the Rolling Stone esque I Did It Without the Drugs, while tracks like I Wanna Lose and Wasted Mine, the addictive dark pop the band first unleashed on Rotting Pinata.

Detroit Concerts and The Royal Oak Music Theatre are proud to present The Detroit Soundz Finals. This event will take two of the competing artists on a 11 state tour through 21 cities with Captivity Recording Artist: Mansfield Park. The event will take place on Friday, April 25th 2008 at The Royal Music Theatre for the Detroit Soundz Finals 2008.


This event is not only a concert, but a contest to see who will hit the road with Captivity Recording Artist: Mansfield Park and the finalists on this event are View From Ida, Self Reason, This Year, David Winans, PI, Nurvcore, Steve Who? On Friday, April 25th 2008 with doors opening at 6:00p. m. for this all ages event.


Detroit Soundz was created to bring better chances to the musicians of the metropolitan area and to form a bond, a unity, an alliance! We want everyone to try to help everyone, and to do it together as a whole.


There are six more weeks until the event happens on Friday, April 25th 2008 and we are looking to get as much publicity for this event as possible. The Bloids To Perform at Blender's Exclusive SXSW Party


Ann Arbor, Michigan based artists The Bloids will be performing at Blender magazine's exclusive SXSW party on Friday, March 14, 2008 in Austin, Texas.  This invite only soiree will host a virtual who's who of the music industry's most sought after power players. Hot national buzz worthy acts Diplo, A-Trak, and The Cool Kidz, will also be appearing, along with a DJ set by Kevin Barnes of Montreal.

Hailing from Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, The Bloids have steadily been gaining national notice since winning Blender magazine's “Battle of the Bands” in 2007.  Their song Breakdown Calling stood out among thousands of entries to earn the band top honors. The Bloids compelling brand of soulful rock is showcased on their debut CD Memories of Things I've Never Done. The disc, which has been receiving airplay on Hot A/C stations across the country, was also licensed for VH1's hit TV show “Keeping Up with The Kardashians.”

Following their SXSW appearance, The Bloids are off to The Palms in Las Vegas to for a recording session at the new Palms Recording Studio, where platinum artists The Killers, Lil' Jon, and Britney Spears recently cut tracks.

Every Avenue's debut album, Shh. Just Go With It has hit the Billboard Charts. They are currently #27 on the Top New Artist Chart, #10 on Alternative New Artist Chart, and #61 on the Record Label Independent Current Album Chart. MAJ Entertainment 1st Anniversary Bash 2/27/08!

Calling all rock & roll fans! Tonight there is a HUGE bash going down in The Clem over at The Emerald Theater tonight for MAJ Entertainment’s 1st Anniversary! For those of you that don’t know, MAJ Entertainment is run by Mark Jones and currently book shows around the Metro Detroit area including shows at the Emerald Theater, TNT’s, all the shows at The Dawg House and beyond. MAJ is truly a super fan and promoter of local rock & roll throughout the area and will be celebrating their first year tonight with an all out assault on Da Clem with Grommet, Konniption Fit, Ballz Deluxe, 2 Days Out, Krank Nine, and Not To Be Found! Hey it’s hump day anyways so why not get out for some mid-week hump fun and stop on up for this hellacious show. Dr2 will be in the house covering all the angles for you, so if you’re there stop on by and hit us up (or buy us a drink!). It’s an all ages show with doors at 7, bands at 7:30 or so and will be over in plenty of time for you to get some sleep before work tomorrow! Support Local Music Before It’s Gone!
