Critical Bill Releases New Video
Mt Clemens, MI- Critical Bill has released their latest video for "Beam Me Up", the first single from their upcoming release, "The Underground Kingdom", on Westbound/SMC records due out in January, 2010. Beam Me Up follows the Critical Bill recipe that creates an urban rap rock sound blazing with undeniable hooks, crunching riffs, over top of an amazing beat that will bring everyone together in the mosh pit during their now legendary live shows! Produced my local videographer, Jason Schultz, and following many of Detroit's major rockstars such as Kid Rock, Eminem, & newcomers, The Swellers, Beam Me Up was filmed locally in its entirety, rivaling many nationally produced videos with extremely large budgets, reflecting Michigan's ability to not only produce some of the worlds top music, but is now a big time player in the world of film. Check out the video yourself below, and then keep an eye out for the all new Critical Bill album Underground Kingdom in late January! Spitting Nickels Opening For Blue Oyster Cult
This just in from The Spitting Nickels!
We're really excited about opening for Blue Oyster Cult at the Renaissance Center on Friday (Aug 15th). It turns out that we're going on around 7:45. That's a little later than we originally thought, but perfect timing for a Friday night along the river.
If you've never seen a show on the Riverfront, it is really a great venue. Great sound, great crowd... great fun all the way around. We hope you can make it.
Meanwhile, check out Detroit Free Press writer Rachel May's coverage of the band, the show and our new EP here. (Second story down.)
Sarah Lenore Makes The Semi-Finals!
Local Country Girl Sarah Lenore Moves On!
UPDATE TO STORY-
Sarah Lenore gets the nood once again and will move onto the Live Performance rounds in LA in front of millions of TV viewers on NBC's Hit TV Show America's Got Talent! Congratulations goes out to this talented young lady as she Rocks The Country Detroit Style-
Hometown Honky Tonk Hotty, Sarah Lenore, recently was featured on NBC’s summertime hit series America’s Got Talent where she was given the green light to move on to the Vegas Auditions in front of an estimated 40 million viewers nationwide. Produced by Simon Cowell (American Idol) and hosted by Jerry Springer, America’s Got Talent also has an all star set of celebrity judges that includes Sharon Osbourne, David Hasselhoff, & Piers Morgan. With auditions held in a variety of cities around the country, the judges decided which of the acts make it through to the Vegas Callbacks, and will then move on to the live semi-final performance episodes where the American viewing audience will vote for their favorites each week. The series culminates with a live finale where one act will walk away with a million-dollar prize. Suffice to say that if you’ve followed the career of Sarah, then you know what we mean when we say “Sarah’s Got Talent”, and on top of that she has that all important “look” that everyone so adamantly admits is necessary in today’s media driven music world. During her first round performance, Sarah was featured extensively, garnering abundant praise from all three judges from her rendition of Before He Cheats, getting the nod that indeed Sarah would be heading to Las Vegas for the next round. Check out her Network Tv Debut in the below video. This past Tuesday Sarah once again scored a win by receiving the nod from all three judges in the Non-Performance 2nd round and moved on to the 3rd round where she performed one of her original songs in front of all three judges and again proved to be a force to reckon with as she moves on to Tonight’s performance episode. If Sarah pulls off another victory in tonight’s round, she will be heading to Hollywood for the Live Semi-Final performances along with another 39 contestants. Another local performer, Kevin Taylor, also made it to the Vegas round before he was eliminated during Tuesday episode. You may remember this guy as he hails from Clinton Twp, MI (Not Minnesota, as it was wrongly announced during the episode) and performs at Vinnie Rico’s Annual Brick concerts at the Emerald Theater. Yes you know the guy that smashes stacks of bricks with everything from his hands to his head and every thing in between! Last years season 2 winner, Terry Fator, not only walked away with $1,000,000 and a stint on the Vegas Strip, Fator signed a $1,500,000 contract for three months at the Las Vegas Hilton, leading to a recent signing of a $100,000,000 contract to perform at the Mirage for 5 years! Tune in to NBC tonight and every Tuesday and see for yourself whether or not our not so Jack like “Nashville” transplant makes it through to the finals! Until then check her out on the Sarah Lenore MySpace Page and as always, remember Detroit Rock Review is The Only Place For Local Music News & Reviews!

UGLY Preparing For New Album
UGLY Preparing For New Album
Looks like Geo Teubl and the boys from UGLY are in the initial stages preparing for a new disc slated to come out early 2009! That’s right, we have word that UGLY is writing all new material in anticipation of heading back into the studio this coming winter of 2008. Can’t wait for the new material to perpetuate from the airwaves, as UGLY has recently been scoring big across the US with their last release Sex, Drugs, And Rock & Roll! More news from the UGLY camp indicates that drummer Donnie Highland has left the band on good terms for personal reasons and actually continues to write with the guys for the forthcoming album. Apparently UGLY has managed to snag themselves a pretty damn good interim replacement in Chris Castro of Radiocraft. We’ll keep our ears open to hear what happens on a permanent replacement, but for now they’ll borrow Castro so as to continue doing their scheduled shows.
