Justin Alexander Debuts New Band
Detroit, MI- With a hard drive full of new material, local musician, Justin Alexander, decided it was time to take his masterfully crafted songs to a live stage where he could let his music speak for itself. For this to happen, he would need to assemble a band from the area’s best musicians. Meet Justin Alexander & The Modern Classics, Patrick Hood, Steve Stocker, & Rico Sierra who delivered an amazing debut show to a near capacity crowd last night at the Diesel Concert Lounge where they celebrated the release of the Destination Nowhere EP.
By the time the doors opened at 8pm, fans had already begun to line-up to get inside to be some of the first to hear the new collection of songs. From what we witnessed, these fans were ready to rock, & that is exactly what Detroit’s newest band did, jumping right into the title track from the EP, Destination Nowhere, and sending the crowd of 250 into an extended frenzy. Amazingly, JAMC had no intentions on letting that energy subside, opting to go all in by following it up with yet another new one from the EP, Boy You Betta, before settling into a nearly 1 hour set that featured all the songs off the new EP including Supergirl, Scared to Live, & the fully remastered Woodward Avenue. In a throwback to his earlier recordings, JAMC pulled out the crowd favorites She’s a Slut, & Let it Take Ahold, driving the room into a fever pitch before finishing out the night with the currently unreleased smash up of a hit Back in Detroit, drawing such a huge ovation from the crowd that quickly turned into our favorite chant to hear, “….one more song, one more song….” which was met with another favorite, Smoke & Mirrors, bringing to an end one of the most epic nights we’ve experienced on the local scene in a while!
Short on Shame opened up the night with a bang as this powerhouse trio got the crowd primed, dropping a rousing set of their brand of Detroit Rock & Roll. News is that they are currently working on their sophomore release, details to follow soon!
We’ve seen/heard quite a few bands here at Dr2, and we must admit we’ve seen all the good as well as the bad out there, we’re here to tell you that this just may have been the biggest, baddest, all out debut of any band in quite some time and we fully expect that we will all be hearing a lot more from these guys in the near future, as they fully blew us away.
