Where In The World Is Olin Ezra?
In a bizarre twist of events over the past week or so, The Olin Ezra Show has apparently been forced off the air in what looks to be the biggest conspiracy to hit Detroit since Kwame Kilpatrick got caught with his text hanging out. Over the past 2 years, The Olin Ezra Show has worked like clock work, taping shows on Sunday afternoons at their headquarters inside Detroit's Russell Industrial Center for release on the following Wednesday. Dr2 has been actively seeking answers since this past week as the OE Show was scheduled to release their heavily touted 100th Episode, only to find that the Host himself, Olin Ezra, along with his entire cast, have mysteriously fallen quite. The strangest part and maybe the most disturbing is that the "100th Episode" never reached the podcast waves this week, an indication that something may have gone terribly wrong. A stalwart of the local social networking sites, Ezra and his entire crew seemed to have vanished in thin air, which only fuels Dr2's fire to find out exactly what has happened to this burgeoning show that has been climbing in popularity since the very first episode aired back in the summer of 2008. Making things that more difficult, if not the least bit strange, Dr2 has been unable to reach Olin, or any of his crew, since last Sunday, when we were invited into the studio for, what was to be, a milestone for the show. (un)Fortunately Dr2 was unavailable that day as we were busy ourselves wreaking Havoc on The River while a number of mysterious events unfolded before our eyes. First off, the outspoken host was hanging with Dr2 during the Lies Unknown EP Release Party in Mt Clemens, when we were abruptly confronted by 2 peculiar looking men that looked to have whispered something to Olin as they brushed into our group. Not really understanding what they said, Olin just shrugged and quipped, "fuckin' feds", quickly turning our attention back to the stage before we noticed that OE was gone. Fearing something bad was happening, the Dr2 Crew quickly took off in search of Olin where we found him at the bar slamming a shot of Patron, strangely, all by himself. As beads of sweat rolled from his brow, OE began quivering as we poked for information as to who those 2 guys were, responding only to subsequent shots of Patron, OE claimed he had no idea........
The following morning, Dr2 learned that when Olin left the venue, he discovered his vehicle was broken into. Surprisingly, the only reported item missing was OE's backpack containing his train wreck laptop, which held every single episode of the Olin Ezra Show, his entire collection of contacts, as well as a number of his censored off air rants that to the uninformed, could possibly be mistaken as "Anti-American". There has been an unconfirmed report that witnesses place Ryan B. Noveltsky's missing blow-up doll near the scene, quite possibly riding Ryan,....ahh shotgun with the two arcane men that had confronted OE earlier that night, but we stress, this is still unconfirmed as of yet.
Growing exceedingly concerned after the purported 100th episode failed to appear this week, Dr2 was finally able to contact a good friend of the OE Show, Les Zaldor, who has also been stymied by the disappearance of cast & crew of the OE Show. It turns out that Les was at the Russell Industrial Center during the early portion of this 100th Episode, but due to a prior commitment left half way through the taping. Interesting that Les should mention a strange encounter on his way out of the building in which, while he was exiting the elevator, 2 ambiguous looking men, wearing jackets stitched with the words, "Home Land Security" across the chest, were entering the same elevator and quietly asked which floor housed The Olin Ezra Show. Fearing the worst, we had Les return to the RIC to look around to see if Olin was bingeing in the control room, which was not out of the ordinary for the eccentric talk host. An hour or so later, we found Les, looking like a desperate housewife, frantically typing away on his "net book" inside the confines of The OE Studios, trying to recover data from a beat up thumb drive, with the numbers 1-0-0 scratched in the casing, that he had found in the rubble outside the Studio door. Being the hacks that we are, Dr2 was able to pull out some sketchy audio that, at first listen, appears to be the remnants of the now infamous 100th Episode. Clearly at some point during the show, we could make out someone busting through doors yelling "Homeland Security, everyone on the floor, now!", followed by what appears to be chairs being knocked over, then what sounds to be someone making a break for it. "Stop him, he's the one we want" was clearly shouted before the audio went, inexplicably dead before a faint voice could be heard through the static, announcing there has been "some technical difficulties", when, out of nowhere, the audio returned, clear as could be, but to our surprise it was Jay Hudson of 89X, and not Olin Ezra. The show continues on with Jay Hud at the controls while, one by one, cast members return to the air, noticeably shaken, and without a word spoken of what had just occurred, only to excuse themselves from the show, giving us the impression that they had just been arrested or something. Now, this is strictly our take on the sound byte, and we have not been able to confirm any of this.
The Cast has been strangely silent this week, while Olin Ezra himself seems to have vanished? Cell phone seems to be dead, no answer to emails, and in the direst development, not one post this week from the host himself, which is extremely weird, not to mention completely out of character for the ever present Facebooker. No word yet on his whereabouts, condition, or if he's been detained, and we have no idea whether or not Episode 100 will ever be aired due to the condition of the thumb drive we found. Wish we could give more details as to what actually occurred last Sunday, but as of right now, this is being treated as a Breaking News Story, and will be updated as more info flows into the Dr2 News Room......stayed tuned, in the meantime, follow this developing story as it happens at The Olin Ezra Show website.
