ROCK THE RUNWAY
Detroit, MI - Rock The Runway returns for their 4th Annual installment Saturday night at the Emerald Theatre in Mt. Clemens. A raucous night that mixes local Fashion with Music, RTRtm has evolved from its humble beginnings down the street at the smaller Hayloft Venue, to the current, much larger Emerald Theatre which has proven a much more efficient facility for the event. Beginning back in 2009 with just 10 local casual clothing designers and a handful of models, RTRtm now boasts over 15 designers and an entourage of nearly 300+ mind blowing models who, for at least one night,
get to live out their dreams on the catwalk. A fashion event geared toward the local business scene, RTRtm has engaged the community, bringing together a variety of local businesses that rage from the expected casual clothing designers, to local eateries, pubs, power sports, and media outlets to display or sell their goods through out the night.
Setting this event apart from the rest is its choice of bringing in local bands to “Rock” the runway between presentations on the catwalk, melding a host of genres into one spectacular display. This year RTRtm , has taken it a step further, opting to bring in national act Evans Blue to close out the night. Local Rock & Roll heavyweights, Dirty Americans along with Pistol Day Parade, & Hip Hop artists The Definition. This could very well be their finest lineup to date!
New this year is the addition of a charity to receive a portion of the proceeds from the night’s event. Enter “Wigs 4 Kids” of Michigan, a non profit whose sole purpose is to help our young ones diagnosed with cancer by fitting them with wigs to wear during their treatment, hopefully allowing them to feel more comfortable as they fight for their lives.
Having attended the first 3 events, Dr2 can attest that this has become one of the “can’t miss” events of the year. Where else can you rub elbows with the areas hottest models, all the while supporting our own local businesses? Besides, with all this music and all those models, you just don’t want to miss this event!
