Citizen Zero Releases Debut EP at Ferndale’s Magic Bag on May 6th
Alternative rockers Citizen Zero celebrate the release of their highly anticipated debut EP with a release party at The Magic Bag on Friday, May 6, 2011. Doors are at 8 p.m.; tickets are $8 (available now at ticketweb.com or the venue) and ages 18 and over are welcome to attend. Joining Citizen Zero for this high-energy show will be The Infatuations – winners of vitaminwater’s “People’s Choice” Award at the 2011 Detroit Music Awards, Nashville femme fatale rocker Danielle Bloom, and local favorite Chris Polite (formerly Cardiff Giant).
Citizen Zero is comprised of dynamic lead singer/songwriter Josh Mayle and three very talented brothers: Matt (guitar), Greg (bass), and John (drums) Dudley. Growing up in Rochester, Michigan, Mayle and the Dudley’s childhoods revolved around music. In both families, a passion for music has been passed down through multiple generations. From the time the boys could walk, music was just as much a part of them as breathing. In early 2010, when word traveled that the Dudleys were forming a new rock band, long-time musician/songwriter, (and a fan of the Dudleys) Josh Mayle jumped at the opportunity to join, and Citizen Zero was born. Creating aggressive, yet melodic modern rock, the intense chemistry of the three Dudley brothers coupled with Mayle’s powerhouse vocals and riveting stage presence, characterizes the unmistakable sound that is Citizen Zero. All tracks from Citizen Zero’s forthcoming EP are streaming on the band’s web site at citizen0.com
Teaming up with Kid Rock engineer and acclaimed producer Al Sutton at Royal Oak’s Rustbelt Studios, Citizen Zero’s debut EP features 6 exhilarating original rock tracks. The self -titled EP will be available for the first time at the release party, and then digitally on Itunes beginning May 20, 2011. “I was really drawn to Citizen Zero when I heard them play,” says Sutton. “It was refreshing and rare to hear great musicianship like theirs in such a young band.”
Joining the celebration are The Infatuations, a band that embraces Detroit’s rich musical heritage in every song they write and perform. Heavily influenced by the music of the 60’s and 70’s, The Infatuations play a mixture of funk, soul, disco and pop with a rock twist; creating dance grooves with undeniable pop hooks that will have people dancing in their seats!
Rounding out the bill are acoustic troubadour Chris Polite (formerly Cardiff Giant) - and rocker Danielle Bloom, road-tripping all the way from Nashville to lend her Chrissie Hynde/Janis Joplin-tinged vocals and high-octane live performance to the show.
