Lithium to Open For Critical Bill/Morris Day @ Stars & Stripes Fest

Local heavy rockers, Lithium, will be opening up for Critical Bill along with Morris Day & The Time on that big National Stage during this year's Stars & Stripes Festival on June 26th in Mt Clemens after winning the Hayloft's "Battle Of The Bands" last Friday night. In a highly contested contest, the Hayloft packed in the fans of Flophouse, Down For Now, Stellar Drive and Lithium for this unique opportunity for some major exposure during the vastly successful festival that draws over 300,000 people to the streets of Mt Clemens over a three day period.

Down For Now rocking the Hayloft
One of the biggest surprises came early on when Dr2, after many an invite, finally got their chance to see Down For Now, a straight up rock & roll band that definitely filled the Loft with a huge, almost grunge throwback sound, that had us wondering why we hadn't run into this group earlier. Lead singer Mike has that effortless vocal that flows just above the rhythm section, allowing the huge riffs of lead guitarist Pete to bring out the melodic thunder that had everyone up front dancing! Stellar Drive followed with yet another in a string of awesome sets over the past few months.

Stellar Drive recently released their debut album
With their Debut Release in hand and a rather large posse of supporters in tow, Stellar Drive was out to grab that opening slot for themselves tonight. Featuring Dylan McCarty on drums, Stellar Drive came out firing on all cylinders as they unleashed their blend of powerful arena rock that filled the front of the stage with fist pumping fans! These guys have come a long way in just over the year they've been together, drawing big crowds at every venue they play while adding to a fan base that grows day by day, Stellar Drive brought their A-Game tonight, even previewed a new song that rocked the crowd to a frenzy. Keep an eye on these guys as their star rises to the stellar heavens!

Lithium's grand entrance returns!
Bringing back their infamous entrance from their February CD Release Party, Lithium once again appeared from behind that huge white drape of a curtain that allowed for a full silhouette of the band that prominently featured the spiked antics of lead singer Pauly, before dropping to the stage revealing the full flurry of what Lithium is, an addicting drug rock & roll show in all of its finest debauchery! From the onset of their set, it was apparent that Lithium was here to win this thing, bringing with them the largest crowd of the night, and by all means putting on one of thee most energetic stage shows we've seen, engulfing everything that Detroit Rock represents. Apparently the judges heard them loud and clear as Lithium was named the winner of that opening slot and a chance to perform in front of thousands of (hopefully) new fans!

Don't forget that all these bands and more will be at the Hayloft the entire Stars & Stripes Weekend when The Hayloft takes over the abandon Stars & Stripes "Local Music" stages with their own 100% Michigan Made Music Stages inside and outside stages featuring the very best of what we all know is the musical hotbed of the world! Check out all these bands in the Dr2 Links and the photos from the night are in the Dr2 Photo Gallery, then head on over to the Dr2 MySpace Page where you'll find them all in our "Top Friends". Be sure to check back soon for a complete schedule of bands that will be appearing June 25th & 26th only at The Hayloft! DetroitRockReview.com - The Only Place For Local Music News & Reviews!
