Cadillac Dale & Kyle Looking Dapper
Hush celebrated the release of his latest effort "The Open Book" this past Friday Night at his old stomping grounds inside St Andrews Hall in the heart of Detroit with flair that can only be summed up as off the hook! Pulling up in no less than 4 "HUSH" designated stretch limos, the guys in the band themselves arrived in equally dapper fashion, all sporting top designer suits for this big occasion that was brought to us by Detroit, On The Rocks. With a stellar line-up on hand, the party got started with one of Dr2's favorites, Band With No Name, who always tears it up, followed by Qwest McCody, who spit out the rhymes as well as the jokes,

HUSH Rising Again During CD Release Party
before The Definition hit the stage with their blend of electric cello backed hip hop, setting the stage for the nights main attraction HUSH. After nearly a 4 year wait, HUSH delivered the goods tonight, unleashing his latest effort in it's entirety, including the -"Jack White forced me to drop this one from the album cus of threatened lawsuits because he himself was to stuck up to answer any attempts to contact him"- No Love. Maybe thee best track "not" from The Open Book as HUSH explained that all he was doing is showing some Detroit love by sampling The White Stripes SAMPLED version of said song, then proceeded to end his explanation with Fuck Jack White, Fuck The White Stripes to a thunderous applause, launching into No Love, complete with the sampled backing track that had JW pissed off in the first place. Now that is Detroit love, stuffing it right in the face of the Nashville-ite inside the same room that helped propel Jack ass to stardom. (Dr2 secretly wonders if JW himself had permission to sample the song from its owner, since it was released before they made it). HUSH certainly didn't hold back, dropping an hour and a half set that also included some from Bulletproof and had the crowd chanting for more at the end, prompting an encore with their over the top rendition of Baba O'Riley, sending everyone we seen home in jubilation of what we all just witnessed. This was HUSH on top of his game; This was HUSH "Rising Again". Be sure to check out the
Dr2 View of "The Open Book" by HUSH, and then be sure to catch HUSH as he continues his "Rise" on Thanksgiving Eve over at Pepper Bottoms on Harper Ave in St Clair Shores! DetroitRockReview.com - The Only Place for Local Music News & Reviews!
