Death or Glory opened up week 7
Well we are officially halfway through Version 3.0 of the 89X $10,000 I'm With The Band Contest put on by TNT's over in Clinton Twp, and it still looks like a wide open affair with no clear cut leader pushing to the front of the heap! Dr2 must say that if YOUR band hasn't signed up yet for this FREE battle (no tix sales, no upfront cost, no nada!), then you're making a huge mistake as this is shaping up to be anyone's game! I mean $10,000 from TNT's & Studio Time from Metro Recording Studios are up for grabs, what are you waiting for????

DMF of Hell Rides North just may be one of the best!
Find out how to sign up right HERE! Week 7 was a Monster of a week that saw local Heavy Metal artists Hell Rides North take the Online Vote in a scaled down version that saw only 3 of the 5 bands submit their songs to be voted on. Not quite sure what's up with that, but why is a band in this contest if they don't even have any recorded music.....never ceases to amaze us! This week featured a wide variety of musical styles from the pop rock of Death or Glory, the Rap Metal of SBU, The straight up Metal from Hell Rides North, to the quirky bluegrass rap of The Disregarded. After winning the on-line vote by a small margin over SBU, Hell Rides North not only won the door vote, but swept the night with an outstanding performance that shone above the rest while delivering their trademark heavy beats with near perfection. Hell Rides North, who feature one of the wildest drummers in the city, and probably one of the best, won the night and a position in the semi-finals along with their chance at that $10,000 check!

Counter Culture would fit on any stage with The Muggs
Week 8 was the halfway point of the preliminary rounds in this 6 month journey to crown a winner of the $10,000. This week featured some downright heavy voting in the online phase of the week's competition with the winner Flashpoint bringing in nearly 900 votes with the runner up, Romeo's Revival receiving just over 600? With barely 900 friends on their MySpace page, Flashpoint certainly must be able to get them to vote, and although they did win the door vote on a marginally attended night, it's a shame they couldn't bring out more of these fans

Flashpoint follows God's word to lead the way
who were voting for them to the show. Playing a punked up Christian rock, Flashpoint calls upon "God" to make them a vessel and a light for others to follow, according to their website. I guess it's not working! The real surprise came with the first band up called Counter Culture. They didn't do very well with the online vote, nor the door vote, but Dr2 will definitely enjoy catching these guys again as they laid it all on the line with their downright catchy jam band bluesy stuff that would fit right in with The Muggs! Grand Circus and Social Tease rounded out the nights bands, but in the end it was the call of God that guided Flashpoint through the darkness of TNT's and into the semi-finals of 89X's $10,000 I'm With The Band V3.0! Stay tuned this week for another all out night of rock & roll where week 9 will feature the southern fried rock of Dismantle along with Moment of Inertia, Redleader, The Motherbirds, and Two Flights Up!
