Underland CD Release Party @ The Dawg House (2-1-08)

So Friday night, dodging the storm and looking for some rock-and-roll, the DR2 crew ended up at The Dawg House for the Underland CD Release Party for their new Disc “The Black, White and Gray”. We weren't disappointed either, finding a house full of "dawgs" just a-barking to rock & roll! We even met the Dawg House mascot for the first time tonight, felt kind of funny as he just wanted to hang out with us all night(see picture), yet never said a damn word….. Celebrating this long anticipated disc, Underland brought along all their friends to really gave it that “party” feel, they even had one of Dr2’s favorites, Radiocraft on hand to help out with the night’s festivities. It appears that Suzie Ferro (vox) of Radiocraft has overcome some throat issues that had threatened to sideline her for awhile, but we're pleased to announce that she is definitely on her game and has been aggressively booking shows around town. On this subject, mark your calendars for March 29th over @ the Token, where Suzie tells me she’s putting together what is billed as “The Copy Cat Show”. It promises to be a night full of surprises as each band on the bill will be covering a song from one of the other band’s on the bill…..get it, Copy Cat! Should be quite interesting….. Anyways Radiocraft hit the stage around 10:15 or so kicking it off with Bribe The Guards and as usual proceeded to deliver their trademark tight set that leaves you amazed and wanting more! Giving us most of their new stuff from “Catch Your Death”, Radiocraft also previewed some new material that sounded great, before finishing the set off with Walk All Over You. Check Radiocraft out by heading over to the Dr2 Links or you can find them in our Top Friendsover on our MySpace page. We had a chance to talk up Lou Abraham (vox), Chris Lucas, (bass) & Bob Payne (drums) from Underland about the new disc, really a great bunch of guys that took on the task of putting out their first disc themselves. We had seen Underland almost a year ago back at the now closed Club 54, where they played with Hell Rides North. So, we were excited to catch them again here at The Dawg House where the sound system is a huge step up from that place. Boy, we weren’t disappointed either, as Underland stepped up and threw it down, HARD! Cranking it out, this power trio plows you over with their ferocious thunder! They nailed their set that included John Doe, This Place, and then tore the place apart with Dr2’s favorite, I.S.P. Working the crowd into a frenzy, Underland couldn’t keep their female fans away as they invaded the stage to dance the set away! Awesome night, you just got to love a crazed crowd! Underland wasn’t going to just celebrate this new Disc at the Dawg House as they were off the next night for CD Release Party #2 down at the Rack & Roll in Riverview with Ray Street Park! Hey, hit these guys up over at their site, you’ll find them in the Dr2 Links or on our Top FriendsList over on the MySpace page. Detroit Rock Review, the ONLY place for Local Music News & Reviews!
