Blender Blow Out @ The Bag 10/13/07

on .

Whoa! What a Blow Out @ The Bag Saturday Night! Blender Magazine put on a throw down over at the Magic Bag in Ferndale this past weekend, and from the moment you walked into that magnificent venue on Woodward, you could just feel the excitement building, as the people kept filing in! With some of the proceeds from tonight’s show benefiting the McCarty Foundation, it was a “Party” with a cause, Blender even had a silent auction going on through out the night for a special “one of a kind” autographed poster donated by Kid Rock’s sister. I know we didn’t get it……oh well! These Blender Parties are starting to become “The” place to be, with a packed house, excellent bands, great venue, and even free Blender Mags everywhere for you to take! Certainly a great place to be for “networking” face to face, which is a heck of a lot more interesting than the myspace thing that seems to be the norm nowadays. Dr2 has been to a couple of these things and tonight’s ranks right up there at the top. With a fairly packed house, and a great line-up featuring Dirt Road Logic, Dirty Americans, Five Horse Johnson, and Ty Stone, tonight’s show proved to be as diverse as ever. You had the country/southern rock of DRL & 5 Horse Johnson, the straight up rock & roll of the Dirty Americans, then you had Ty Stone, who falls somewhere in between. From the moment that the boys from DRL took the stage, you knew they were on a mission to win over some fans. DRL certainly succeeded in that tonight by blowing us away and winning over Dr2! What a power house, as they tore through a bevy of country tunes that had that hard “Michigan” edge to them. No wimp ass stuff here baby! These guys came out hitting, with Eric Kelly’s “wild bull” vocals slicing through the Bag (and actually breaking a string on the first chord!), Luke Elder continuously climbing his kicker, Paul D shredding like Danny M, and Jeff Rester’s thumping in your face, you couldn’t help but get up front & jam! Having that country rock style, DRL lays down a foot stompin beat that has everyone dancing and a shakin’, and by the time they finished their set with “Watch It Burn”, they literally had the roof of the Bag a shakin’. You’d a thought you were at a Kid Rock show or something. We also picked up their disc "Great Lake Heartache", you should to, it's awesome! You can find them on the web @ www.dirtroadlogic.com. Now what about that poster...........Dirt Road Logic’s finish was a perfect lead in to the next act up, Dirty Americans, who on their own ooze Kid Rock where ever they play! These guys are right at home on that big stage the Magic Bag has, with a sound that’s even bigger, and a show that never stops! Armed with a genuine arsenal of hot & heavy material, Dirty Americans came to Ferndale & bombarded the Bag! From Jet “Black Holy Water” to “Detroit Son of a Bitch”, the Dirty Americans picked up right where those Dirt Road Logic boys left off, and had the entire Bag a shakin. It was an absolutely awesome sight seeing Myron playing to the crowd, as he couldn’t stay off the big ass sub’s in front of the stage as he’d reach out for the high fives. Detroit, rock & roll, no way, you can mess with that!!! The Dirty Americans are constantly playing around the state, so find a show near you @ http://www.dirtyamericans.com. By the way, I never did get that damn poster….. Five Horse Johnson, Toledo, what more can I say? They came to “Rock The Country” and that they did. Damn poster…… There was no doubt who everyone came to see tonight. As the lights went down, the empty pit quickly filled up, as everyone wanted to see one of our own, Ty Stone! Stepping out on the stage in his black suit, Ty blew the Bag away with his high energy stage show. Hitting up his classic “Downriver”, Ty took his own shot @ turning up the heat and blowing the roof off the Bag! Man, what an awesome show tonight at the Bag. Find out where Ty will be next @ http://www.tystonemusic.com Blender Detroit has been throwing some downright fun parties here on Woodward, and after tonight, Dr2 can’t wait for the next. If you haven’t been to one yet, then what the hell are you waiting for? Stay tuned to Detroit Rock Review as we will definitely keep you posted on the next Blender Blow Out! Now, as far as that poster goes……....Ah hell, I’m sure somebody’s enjoying it!

Blender Rocks!
