Cheap Liquor And Live Music Implodes The Dawg House!

This past Saturday Night The Dawg House was imploded. Yep, you heard it right, IMPLODED. Literally, if not figuratively, and if you where there, you know what I’m talking about. Jim even had Mark call in Mr. Roof to asses the damage! Ok, the roof did survive, barely, as the Dawg House was invaded from the North, South, West and all points in between. Bad Side dropped into the Dawg House all the way from Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan way up there in the UP, for a CD Release Party that rocked like no other! Celebrating their new CD “Bad Side II” for the Detroit Area, btw-one awesome Disc (check it out here), Bad Side headlined a great line up put together by MAJ Entertainment that included QuickShot Ace, Dangerous Pursuit, and Slave To The Beautiful, before a Dawg House crowd that included many from the local scene. A quick set from Royal Oak’s QuickShot Ace was refreshing, as they set things in motion for what was setting up to be one of those crazy “Rock & Roll” parties that you won’t soon forget. We missed a chance to catch Dangerous Pursuit a while back, and after tonight’s show are regretting it. This young, up & coming “five some” from Hartland Michigan, are making a name for themselves around town with a Rock & Roll show that rolls through the Hair Band days with the music to back it up! Raw and powerful, DP brings the energy back to the music as Brett Blacker(vox) fronts this hard hitting group with Ian Kirwan on the leads, Mike Leasia handling the rhythm, and Nick Marocco(kit) & Brad Barr (bass) driving the beat. DP had asked for our attention, but tonight they took it, as they ripped out an awesome cover of Deep Purple’s “Highway Star” that had all the fists in the air! Currently in the studio recording some tracks with Eric Kluiber of Overloaded, DP gave the Dawg House a real “treat” with a few of the new ones they’re working on. Sounded awesome, and we hope they’re close to having these completed as we’ll definitely be working to get an early copy of this one for a Dr2 View! You can hear their music & find out where they’ll be next @ www.dangerouspursuit.net. With the energy level inside the Dawg House rising, it wasn’t surprising to see all the local “rockers” rolling in. Even Chris Honoway was in the house, shooting a new video for Bad Side before and during their set. It was a great night to catch up with all of Dr2’s friends that showed up tonight & a really awesome night to make new friends! With 60 Second Crush, Overloaded, Soul Circus, Koz & Evaline Guitars and all the great bands on tonight’s bill, we could have had one of those “All Star” Jams tonight, hey there’s a thought…..Dr2 wants to send a shout out to all those who did make it out to the Dawg tonight, and if we missed any of ya, we’ll catch ya next time. Dr2 takes it’s hat off to all of you (u know who you are) and to all the bands up on stage tonight! We love Michigan Made Music”! Now Dr2 has seen Detroit’s Slave To The Beautiful a few times before, and we kind of knew what to expect with these guys, until tonight! Wow, give these guys the award for “Most Improved”, as they literally jumped in Da Dawg House like a pack of rabid dogs and shredded the place to pieces! STTB’s power house rhythm section of John (bass), Marty (guitar), and Rand (kit) give Abe (vox) the freedom to jump around on & off the stage! With wicked backbeats & ear splitting leads, STTB blasted us with their “Anthem” Black Dessert Sunshine while the Dawg House’s roof started to sway from the mayhem happening below. They’ll be back up to The Dawg House this Saturday for “Britney’s B’Day Party” with Soul Circus & Dismantle. STTB plays a lot of shows, so you should have no problem finding one near you! Just hop on the web and hit them up @ www.myspace.com/slavetothebeautiful. Well Dr2 had been waiting to see this next band for quite some time and tonight the wait was finally over. We here at Dr2 have talked about “stumbling” across different bands who we’ve never seen or heard before, while checking out other bands. This is one of those bands, albeit we “stumbled” across this one in a whole new manner. Welcome to the “Myspace” age! Yes, myspace. “Yeah right”, we thought, a “Rock & Roll” band from the UP? Well as that little old myspace player came up, you couldn’t help but sit up and take notice! Which brings us to tonight. Mind you we had only heard their myspace player, then we were completely won over by the new Disc Bad Side II, yet we had never seen them perform live. From the opening chords of “Living In Fear”, from the new one, the Dawg House was in trouble! I’ve never seen as many awe struck faces as I did during this totally amazing set, and Dr2 soon realized that Bad Side was not going home without wreaking havoc on all those who dared to enter Da Dawg House tonight. With the velocity of a speeding bullet, Jason Mapes (guitars) just permeates your ears with hook after hook of heavy melodies that literally knock you over! Melissa Krahnke delivers her “Larger Than Life”, vixen like vocals, with the shear beauty and elegance of a rock & roll machine! Backed by an amazing set of musicians, who ironically, are not from the UP, Jonah Brockman (drums) of Tecumseh, Mi & Richie Blair (bass) of Nashville, TN, Bad Side proceeded to shred whatever DP & STTB left behind of The Dawg House. All eyes were on Lissa as she “roamed” The Dawg House Stage, her hair flying wildly, blowing us all away with “Call Me If Ya Want To”, & “This Is How You Made Me”. Bad Side then went to their first one for a few with “Money Money” & “Feel Me”. Even slowing it down a bit as Melissa took over with her piano and tremendous vocals on one of the Crew’s favorites “Don’t Tell”. Putting on a phenomenal show that was as much fun to watch, as it was to hear, Bad Side raised the roof & “Imploded” The Dawg House with an explosive combo of “Cheap Liquor & Live Music” and the set ending “Let It Roll” which featured Jason cranking on an Evaline! Wow, it was like “what the hell did we just see?” as you could feel the vibe that Bad Side just unleashed inside the Dawg House rolling out onto Groesbeck Hwy! A true Rock & Roll experience, which literally had Dr2 left in a haze that you usually feel after having just seen Kid Rock @ The Palace or something! I’m betting that we’ll see a lot more of Bad Side around town, in fact you can catch them on January 17th @ the Emerald Theater, or stop by and give them a listen and pick up a copy of their new CD “Bad Side II” @ www.myspace.com/badsidemusic .
