WHAT WE THINK
Okay! Writing about this place is a tall order(no pun intended). We at DR2 are really impressed with this new country music house on the suburban east-side. From the info above you can quickly figure out that the folks at The Silver Spur have packed everything you could want for a fun night on the town into one building. Combine this with a fantastic, country & music-themed, menu ( i.e. “The Grateful Dead”, A large plate of fried ‘shrooms or the “The Ranch Hand”, a big plate of fantastic chicken tenders), a friendly, helpful staff, and live music hand-picked by Howie Deville, and last, but definitely not least for this suds-lover, $1.00 domestic beer from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and all I can say is Wahooooo! This is a little slice of Nashville brought north. For example, on a recent Saturday night, the DR2 crew headed over to The Spur for a look-see and we were surprised from the moment we pulled into the lot. You see, the Spur has taken the effort to cover every detail. When you get out of your car you are immediately greeted by music. The Spur pipes music, anything being played inside, out to the lot. We walked in to be greeted by the site of a huge dance floor that was full of two-steppin’ country dancin’ patrons. These folks knew every dance possible. This was more than likely the result of the Tuesday night classes offered by The Spur! Well, not knowing any of the dances (yet), we took a seat. We were quickly greeted and our friendly waitress quickly got our orders and made sure we had everything we needed. As the night went on the place started to get a bit smoky. No problem! The manager went over and flipped a switch, and instantly the smoke was sucked out of the place! The Spur has an incredible air-handling system, a definite plus. With drink specials and good prices for drinks the night was definitely going great. Add live music by “The Twistin’ Tarantulas” and you have a party! We enjoyed the entire evening and will definitely keep The Spur in mind when making plans in the future. I can whole-heartedly recommend it as a nighttime destination or even for lunch or dinner. If you are a little bit country, or even a little bit rock-and-roll, The Silver Spur will give you everything you need!
