Dr2 View:

Detroit’s newest, and undoubtedly Hottest rock & roll outfit, Kaleido  are set to roll out their latest release,UnbreakableSaturday night at one of Detroit’s many historic venues, the mighty Majestic Theatre. Formed in late 2011, this female fronted group has been taking the city (and State) by storm, and are now poised to take their melodic heavy hitting pop/rock across the country. In fact they’re already on their way, having recently played high visibility shows on the Van’s Warped Tour, the Uproar Festival in Jersey, CMJ Music Fest in New York, multiple shows out in LaLa land at the Viper Room, and have even found themselves on a stage opening for Kid Rock in the streets of Downtown Las Vegas for The D’s anniversary celebration.

Recorded at Pearl Sound Studios in Canton with Chuck Alkazian (Sponge, Pop Evil, Eminem, Anita Baker) behind the board,Unbreakable unleashes a fury of hook laden tunes that teeter between unabashed metal and melodic pop overtures that bring your fists to the air to rage along with the band’s own femme fatale Christina Chriss on the title track, Unbreakable, as well as the lead single Watch Me Walk Away. Joining Chriss is Joey Fava on Drums, Jamie Burnham on rhythm guitar, and Cody Morales on Bass, who drive the beats home with Ronnie Rosolino supplying the screaming leads heard throughout the album. While Kaleido definitely drops the rock into their pop, it’s on the albums softer tracks where Chriss’ vocals really come to life. Chriss delivers a tantalizing vocal on Under the Coverswhich undoubtedly will mesmerize her KaleidoFam while casting that same spell when picking it up a notch during Gimme Your Love.

All of us here at Dr2 are quite impressed with this sophomore release as we’ve been following these guys (and gal) well before they came together as Kaleido and can say with certainty that we would expect the same reaction to these new songs wherever their road leads.

Catch Kaleido this Saturday Night , March 29th at the Majestic Theatre, located in the heart of Detroit’s Mid-Town on Woodward Avenue with special guests Half Light Music, Flint Eastwood, Reverse Order, & featuring DJ Godfather. This is an ALL AGES show, tickets $12 in advance, $15 at the door, show startsat 7pmDetroitRockReview.com ~ The Only Place for Local Music News & Reviews!
