Detroit’s reining Queen of the Blues, Eliza Neals drops her latest compilation, “messin with a fool” January 27th with an all out throw down in the heart of Detroit City at the new UDetroit Café. Born to sing the blues, Neals has took her music from Detroit to New York, drawing rave reviews every stage she played. With “messing with a fool” she delivers an outstanding performance with her latest effort, drawing from a supersized batch of talented musician from the city she calls home. Neals enlisted some of Detroit’s biggest names, calling on Martin “Tino” Gross (Kid Rock, Howling Diablos) and Barrett Strong (Marvin Gaye, Temptations) to jump in the studio and meld their unique eclectic styles into a gem of a disc, ripe full of an undeniably delicious blend of funky bluesy soul, with a twist of rock & roll!
The results are a collection of mesmerizing tracks that ooze the grit and grind of Detroit’s hard driving lifestyle. Tracks like the lead single, Misery, highlights Neals ability to bring a groove to the blues with her sultry vocal, evoking a vibe that even makes misery seem desirable. Our favorite, Man’s Man, has Neal’s again bringing the heat while you can’t help but to move in your seat to the boogie woogie blues of Livin with Yo Mama (boy that ain’t cool). All in all, a solid 12 track offering from one of Detroit’s own Diva’s!
