Jeff Gutt Rolls Into Xfactor Top 4
Local Singer on Verge of Xfactor Final
Detroit, MI- If you haven’t been watching the Xfactor this season, you had better set yourself a reminder to tune in next Wednesday at 8pm (December 11th, 2013) and catch Detroit’s own Jeff Gutt as he competes in the semi-finals of the FOX Network competition show. Down to the Final Four of a competition that literally sees 10’s of thousand of hopefuls trying out is no small feat, and Jeff is literally knocking on the door of a $1,000,000 recording contract with Simon Cowell’s Syco Records.
This past Wednesday was Diva Night, which you might think would have put Jeff Gutt at a disadvantage, especially seeing as his mentor, Kelly Rolland of Destiny’s Child, chose the Mariah Carey song Without You to perform. Instead, Gutt charged ahead, delivering a rocking power ballad that definitely put a new twist to the song, drawing the praise of Cowell, “probably the best performance of the night….” along the way. Even Demi Lovato got in on the love fest proclaiming that “My niece is obsessed with you, and that goes to show that you have the X Factor!”
Jeff’s 2nd song of the night was an unplugged version of Elton John’s Daniel, which he dedicated to his brother, Daniel, who was in the audience and is currently serving in the Armed Forces. A bit more laid back then his first, but then again, Gutt was able to bring out an emotionally charged performance that brought a tear to his brother, and apparently the viewing audiences too who voted, tweeted, and shazamed the 37 year old Gutt right into the semi-finals and into the Top 4 remaining contestants.
