SpongeDetroit, MI- Detroit's favorite rock sons - Sponge will headline Mt. Clemens' Emerald Theatre (31 North Walnut Street) on Saturday, January 28, 2012.  Doors are at 7 p.m. and general admission tickets are $15 in advance ($18 day of the show), and are available now at the venue’s box office and ticketmaster.  A stellar line up of Michigan rock bands will open for Sponge, most notably Amy Gore and Her Valentines as well as young upstarts Something Utopic, seasoned rockers Gon Publik, & the even younger rebel rousers Shockwave, round out the night’s opening acts.

In the late 90's Sponge gained widespread notoriety with their debut album "Rotting Piñata."  Hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" fueled massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV.

Sponge will offer fans a rare treat - performing, for the first time ever - "Rotting Piñata" in its entirety -and in CD track order - at the Emerald Theatre.

"It will give die hard Sponge fans the chance to hear songs that have not been performed live for almost 20 years!" explains Sponge lead singer Vinnie Dombroski.

After the Emerald Theatre performance - Sponge will perform an intimate SECOND (and possibly THIRD) show inside the Emerald Theatre's Rock Room, playing hits from the band's 6 CD catalog. Local hard rockers Not Enough Indians will get things going immediately following the show in the Theatre. The Rock Room is located on the second floor of the Emerald Theatre, accessible by the stair case to the right of the merch booth.  Admission for these shows is by donation with 100% of proceeds benefiting local Susan A. Komen 3- Day walking team "Trekking for Ta-Tas."

Don’t miss this awesome opportunity to see Sponge perform their smash hit CD "Rotting Piñata" live in it's entirety at the Emerald Theatre, followed by an intimate Rock Room show!
