Motorcity Special announces it's Label Launch Concert

Detroit's newest record label Motorcity Special

announces Label Launch Concert at Jazz Cafe Music Hall of the Performing Arts on Saturday May 8th 2010

A Joint Promotional Production by

Product of Detroit and MOTORCITYBLOG

features unique Detroit musical acts recorded live for pressing to limited edition vinyl.

MCS MISSION:

There are a lot of Detroit record labels, new and old but none are booking diverse Detroit lineups and recording them live at rotating Metro Detroit venues for release on limited edition vinyl records - manufactured at Archer record pressing, Detroit, Michigan.

Motorcity Special is not signing artists or retaining rights to any of the original music.

The Motorcity Special Label Launch Concert will kick off a series of events produced by MCS

to continue what the founders of the label have been doing in their previous respective efforts: Promotion of the diverse local Detroit musical talent and highlight the vast array of music venues in the motorcity.

Kevin Pachla founded Product of Detroit in 2008 and is the owner/operator of Label Network producing promotional materials for local and national clients.

MOTORCITYBLOG just recently celebrated 5 years of documenting Detroit by their 30 contributors and nearly 6000 blog posts of Detroit music and culture

Joining forces to form Motorcity Special, the founders would like local musical acts and venues to consider this joint venture as a premium marketing tool.

Eliza Neals In The Studio

Detroit's own blues queen Eliza Neals is back home cutting some new tracks for an upcoming release. Neals, who currently resides in New York City, has spent the majority of her career cutting her teeth within Detroit's legendary music scene, rocking her unique blend of rockin' rythym & blues throughout the city. "There is no place like home" says Detroit rockin' blues singer Eliza Neals, who together with the guidance of Detroit super producer, Tino Gross, and Motown songwriting godfather Barrett Strong, is currently writing and recording a Bluesy-Motown-Rock-Soul Fortress. The first single is coming soon; it's a nod to the 50 years of Motown and her songwriting partner Barrett Strong. The music video is on the cutting room floor and we have a few behind the scenes images from the video shoot below. Martin "Tino" Gross (Howling Diablos), and Eliza Neals  are both up for Detroit Music Awards so be sure and vote! BREAKING NEWS - TNT's Locks The Doors!

on .

Wow......Can't say we didn't see it coming. But, after many a nights witnessing the total destruction a number of bands unleashed inside this east-side rock club, it looks like the place has finally succumbed to the relentless onslaught of weekly live music and has imploded it self. We're talking about TNT's in Clinton Twp., whose explosive live stage was scene to a number of record breaking nights, and we must say, memorable smoky nights of some of the area's finest rock & roll shows we've seen.  Sadly, today the doors are locked and the room emptied out, leaving one less room to play host to Michigan Made Music, a trend that we hate to see, but should make the overall market stronger. We believe all shows have been cancelled, but they may be moved to Boney's Nightclub, check back as we'll continue to find details. Beggars to Release "Us Dudes" (we get so rad) This Friday!

on .

The Beggars are set to release their latest effort "Us Dudes" (wee get so rad) this Friday April 2nd over at The Magic Bag in Ferndale wsg The Swamp Sisters, Blasé Splee, and Oblisk. One of the most energetic bands in the D, and certainly one of the most entertaining, the Beggars never lack originality as we see with this release, a unique 45 rpm 7" Vinyl that is all the rage around town as of late, and features Pile it Up  on the flip side! Lead by their charismatic frontman, Steven "Beggars" Tuthill, The Beggars bring the Party to the People every time they "climb" on stage, quickly turning an ordinary night of rock'n roll into an impromptu dance party, usually ending with Tuthill swinging, rolling, or diving across the stage amongst hordes of fans who by now have joined them on stage. Recently signed to the Loco Gnosis Record Label, Us Dudes will be the first release in what appears to be an upcoming new album for their new label that is also home to a multitude of Detroit based bands that includes Duende and The Oscillating Fan Club. Be sure to check out the Beggars and their party flavored music by watching the just released video for Us Dudes (wee get so rad) below, then be sure to treat your self to an amazing, in-your-face rock & roll dance party this Friday at the Magic Bag!
