The Bloids Land On Top!

Big things are happening for Ann Arbor’s own little secret The Bloids which will make it extremely hard for them to be kept secret much longer. You see, not so long ago The Bloids were chosen to compete in a Nation Wide “Battle of The Bands” contest put on by Blender magazine. Pitted against 1,000’s of other bands across the country, this contest was in the hands of the readers, requiring votes to be placed for their favorite song. Finishing in the top 4 nationally, The Bloids, featuring Mr. Wax (vox) & Robert "Reverend Jim" Jones (strings), moved on to the finals where their song “Breakdown Calling” was their ticket to ride against the 3 other bands that reached the finals. Netting over 5,000 votes, The Bloids have just been announced as the winners of the Battle! That’s right folks, Our very own The Bloids were voted the BEST over all others in the NATION! No small feat to say the least. The Bloids credit their fans and the quality of their music for pushing them into the winners circle. “Without your support, we really would be just screaming into the wind” says The Bloids. In fact, we here at Dr2 are not all that surprised at the victory, as we proclaimed back in June that “……..they finished their set with A Girl Named Paradise, a radio friendly song that should be spinning on the airwaves today!” (find that complete story in our show review section) Well I guess they have more than that now as Breakdown Calling is the song that propelled them into the spotlight! This win puts them on the stage for the 2008 SXSW Blender House: Austin Stage, a huge coup as this event showcases some of the best talent at this festival. But that’s not all, they also win a weekend recording session at the infamous PALMS studio in Vegas Baby! The Bloids are also preparing for the National Radio release of Breakdown Calling, as well as firming up their current line-up that will now include Uncle Kracker & Lime Regal Drummer Steve Stetson as well as Brian Carney on bass, also with Lime Regal. And to top this all off, The Bloids will be working on an upcoming Video for Breakdown Calling to coincide with the Radio Release!
