Jeff Gutt on the Xfactor!
Detroit, MI (10/3/13) Last night on The XFactor, the world got a slight glimpse of what Dr2 & the rest of Detroit have known for years, that Jeff Gutt has an insane vocal ability with an equally insane stage presence. After nearly blowing his second opportunity during the previously aired Denver Auditions, Gutt was selected by an all-star panel of judges that includes Simon Cowel, Demi LoVato, Kelly Rowland, as well as Paulina Rubio, to move into the Top Ten of the Over 25 Group with Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child as his mentor.
The now 37 year old Gutt, who hails from Metro Detroit, then delivered a rousing rendition of Amazing Grace during last night’s 1st episode of the newly unveiled “4 Chair Challenge Round”, earning himself a seat on one of the coveted 4 Chairs of whom will move onto the next round of “Live” shows starting October 29th where Gutt will undoubtedly show the world his amazing gift, his voice.
Detroit’s a tough city, and you have to be downright good to stand above all the amazing talent that lurks throughout the area. In a city like this, just being good won’t take you very far. Like the city itself, it takes hard work and determination to set itself apart and that is exactly how Jeff Gutt has been able to rise above the Detroit scene and reach out for that national stage that so many around here can only dream about.
His story reads like a Hollywood movie, from Detroit to LA where he led the now defunct band “Dry Cell” to a record deal with Warner Brothers which spawned the song Body Crumbles which appeared on the movie soundtrack for Queen of the Damned and the Madden NFL 2003 video game. While “Dry Cell” eventually crumbled, Gutt returned to Detroit to front “Band With No Name” a local band that made some fairly large waves around town, spawning yet another bone crusher with the song, Animal, which received regional airplay in Detroit.
So it comes as no surprise to us after having his Season 2 appearance cut way too short, that Jeff Gutt is back for season 3 with more determination than ever. Rising from the dust of Detroit…….is another Star Being Born in front of us all?
