THE EEKS to Debut New Guitarist and Drummer at The Crofoot This Friday

DETROIT, MI - 07/05/2011 – Self-proclaimed “sexy and dangerous” Detroit punk outfit The EEKS have gained two new members in pop-punk guitarist Steve Semegen (Bailout) and veteran Detroit drummer John Kay (Bat On Fire). “I enjoy trying out different things musically,” says Semegen, “I like the professionalism of the members.”  While Semegen enjoys the ability to experiment with The EEKS, Kay joined the group for more personal reasons.  “Punk drumming is what I believe I do best, and The EEKS allow me to get back to my punk roots,” says Kay who adds, “There’s nothing I love more than playing my drums live, and since [Bat On Fire] is taking a break in order to record a new album, I don’t get that opportunity as often as I’d like.”

Semegen and Kay, along with keyboardist Jacob Munson and vocalist and founding member Scotty Manzik, will make their live EEKS debut this Friday night in the Pike Room inside The Crofoot in Pontiac, MI. When asked about his feelings regarding the additions of Steve and John, Manzik simply states, “It’s a real blessing in disguise, and a necessary transformation for a more evolved EEKS.”  The band has booked three days in late July at Stu Stu Studio in Livonia, MI in order to record ten songs for demo purposes.
